Teen Tech Week (March 8-14, 2009) is a great time to explore with young people the variety of roles that technology plays in society.
Thought-provoking books that incorporate technology, such as Feed written by M.T. Anderson (Candlewick Press, 2002), provide excellent conversation starters. Readers of this particular YA novel are invited to consider the impact of advertising (and language) on the human mind, on the internet, and in our culture at large.
Listen to the Original Book Reading of Feed to:
1) hear Anderson’s expressive auditory advertisements, and
2) learn how someone’s cell phone conversation inspired the book.
Explore the Book Guides for Feed to learn more about M.T. Anderson’s thoughts behind this book.
